The SPEAR array is located just outside the town of Longyearbyen on Svalbard.

It is co-located with the EISCAT Svalbard radar (ESR) and the Kjell Henriken Observatory.

It consists of 48 transmitters errected on steel masts. The 6 blue shipping containers contain the power supply units and control computers for the transmitters. There are also 4 shipping containers containing the control room, an electronics workshop and 2 storage rooms.
